Born January 29, 1934 in Salt Lake City. He was the son of William Cline and Ruth Mary Miller Black. He passed away on October 13, 2015 at St. Mark's Hospital. Jay married Helen Davis on May 27, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married by Harold B. Lee. Jay retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving. He had a strong testimony of the gospel. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He is survived by his wife Helen; children Mike & Veronica, Steve & Jo, Budd & Kristey, Lani & Ross Whitaker, and Brian & Kim; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way. He is also survived by his brothers Jerry & Bonnie and Anton & Jean. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Dixie Gremlich & Ann Lake. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015, 1:00 p.m. at the Canon 9th Ward building, 1250 West 1400 South, where viewings will be held Friday, October 16th, 6-8:00 p.m. and prior to the service, 12-12:45 p.m. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive.
