Jay Edmund Mulford Sr. 1918 ~ 2013 Jay Edmund Mulford, 95, passed away in his sleep on July 19, 2013. He was born on June 14, 1918 in Gunnison, Utah to John and Violetta (Phelps) Mulford. Jay was a veteran of WWII. He served in the Army from January 22, 1942 to November 19, 1945 and was stationed in the Phillipines. Jay married Ivie (Iva) Behunin on July 5, 1949 in Las Vegas, NV. Iva preceded him in death on April 10, 1995. Jay lived in Torrey, UT. for many years, during which time he herded sheep on the Boulder Mountain and on the Henry Mountains. Jay and his family moved to Salt Lake City around 1955. He worked for the VA Hospital for some time, and later for the University of Utah for many years where he was head of maintenance for several of the residence halls until his retirement. Preceded in death by wife, Iva; children: Janis Walton, Joe Mulford ,Jay Mulford, Jr., grandson Jacob & great-grandson Daniel. Survived by his children: Kozette (Charles) Nowell, Randy (Orawan) Peterson and Stephanie (Charles) Grosskopf; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the SYMBII and A Step Forward Hospices and Dr. Douglas Roland Smith and Judy, his nurse. The family especially wishes to thank his granddaughter Laura Conder, who cared for Jay for several years until his passing. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 26, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where viewings will be held Thursday, 5-8:00 p.m. and Friday, 12-12:45 p.m. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
