Jay Harold Swain

September 2, 1932 — October 14, 2013

Jay Harold Swain 1932-2013 Jay Harold Swain, 81, passed from this life October 14, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Jay was born in Salt Lake City, Utah September 2, 1932 to Harold Levond and Rayta Petersen Swain. He married Annaliza Ruth Hoemke June 8, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked for Deseret Transportation for over 30 years. He loved to water ski, garden and repair anything that was broken, from cars and trucks, to fences and roofs, to hearts and spirits. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family. It was that love and the priesthood blessings he received that kept him here longer than his cancer wanted him to stay. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings including Bishop, most recently serving as Stake Patriarch and a temple worker. Jay is survived by his wife of 62 years, Annaliza (Missus S), and his children, Barbara (Arnold) Grundvig, Deborah (Dennis) Brown, Sharon Clarke, Chris (Darla) Swain, and Julie (Thomas) Otto, along with 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, all of whom are following his example as faithful members of the Church. The family wishes to thank the doctors and expert staff at Huntsman Cancer Center for the extraordinary care they gave our family patriarch. They shared in our grief, with their own tears, at his passing. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013, 11 am at the Granger 15th Ward Chapel, 2835 South 2855 West, West Valley City. Friends may call Friday, October 18, 2013, 6-8 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Saturday at the church, 10-10:45 am. Interment at the Taylorsville Memorial Cemetery, 4585 South Redwood Road.
