Jay Kent Curtis

Jay Kent Curtis, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away July 12, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. Kent was born June 6, 1932 to Ruel Curtis and Mary Zola Harward Curtis in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kent was sealed to his high school sweetheart and eternal companion, Bonnie Jean Luker Curtis at the Salt Lake Temple on May 28, 1952. They were parents of Sandra Gail (Scott) Clark, Bentonville, Arkansas, Stephen Kent (Barbara) Curtis, Salt Lake City, Utah, Stuart Brent (Caralee) Curtis, Houston, Texas, Sherman Dale (Mary) Curtis, Herriman, Utah, and Susan Marlee (Chris) Curtis, Salt Lake City, Utah. Kent worked for over 30 years in Granite School District as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal and principal. He loved working with the youth. He also served faithfully as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his sweetheart served five missions throughout their lives. His passion was anything family, faith and service to others. He is survived by his wife and children; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren; as well as his sisters Barbara Inkley, Magna, Utah, and Rula Flink, Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by siblings, Phyrl Black, Ruel Wayne Curtis, Gae Gibbons, Dale Curtis, Devon Curtis, Sara Flink, Linda Bradshaw; and daughter-in-law Barbara. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 15th Ward Chapel, 1457 W. Atherton Road, Taylorsville, Utah 84123. Viewings will be held on Thursday, July 19th, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and again prior to services at the church on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Redwood Memorial Estates.
