Our darling Mother, Jean Athalee Nielsen, passed away on May 6, 2023 at the age of 97. Athalee was born July 13, 1925 to Vadna Evie Cude Matson and G. Albin Matson, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Lee B Nielsen on June 22, 1945 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple.
Mom was always a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully filled many different positions. She devoted herself to our father and our family.
She loved being a home maker. She was an excellent seamstress and truly gifted when it came to making things with her hands. There wasn't anything that she couldn't make. Especially cherished are the Christmas stockings she made on her knitting machine for everyone in her family including her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and in laws.
Mom is survived by her children, Pamela (Randy) Harrison, Lee Bruce (Stacey) Nielsen, David (Melissa) Nielsen and Dale (Stacie) Nielsen, 19 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lavon Christensen.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Bendt Nielsen, her parents Vadna and Albin Matson, her brother G. Albin Matson Jr, her daughter Ann Marie Dunton and Son-in-Law, Michael J Dunton.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to staff members of Legacy House and Inspiration Home Health and Hospice for guiding our Mother home. "As you say, we don't need soft skies to make friendship a joy to us. What a heavenly thing it is; "World without end," truly. I grow warm, thinking of it, and should glow at the thought if all the glaciers of the Alps were heaped over me"!
