Jeannette Guimond Walton

February 12, 1925 — September 16, 2016

Jeannette, beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend was called home by her Savior Jesus, September 16, 2016. Born February 12, 1925 in Lewiston, Maine to Leo and Minnie Guimond; she was the eldest of six children. Jeannette lived her early years in Beauceville, Quebec. At age 14 she went to live with an aunt and uncle in New York City, where she learned English. She was called home to Hartford, Connecticut by her mother as she was needed to help support the family. She worked for Underwood Typewriter. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, drill team, ski club and the beach. Jeannette met and married Clifford J. Walton in Hartford in 1955. They raised their family while being transferred across the United States with Kraft Foods and Ocean Spray; the last move being to Salt Lake City in 1974. Together Cliff and Jeannette enjoyed bridge club, opera, cross country skiing and socializing with their many close friends, both from church and from the neighborhood. They happily served at Holladay Baptist and Heber Baptist Churches. Jeannette loved working with young children and serving in women's ministries. Jeannette will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her friends; her children, Miriam and Philip; as well as grandchildren, Johanna, Benjamin and Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2010. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016, 3:00 p.m., at Risen Life Church, 2780 East 3900 South.
