Jeremy Michael Austin

May 4, 1977 — September 26, 2021

Jeremy Michael (Wood) Austin (aka: Jeremiah Lynn Jones), 44, passed away from a short-term illness at the West Jordan Care Center, West Jordan, Utah, where he had been a resident for 29 years. He passed peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021, with his mother at his side. Jeremy was born May 4, 1977, in Circleville, Ohio. His parents are Boyd W. Austin and Melanie Sue Wood Austin. Jeremy was borne Jeremiah Lynn Jones and at three months of age, went to live with Roger and Patricia Southward and family until he was 3 ½ years old and was adopted by his mom, Melanie Wood in December 1981. Jeremy and his mom moved to Utah in 1985, where Jeremy received his Certificate of Completion from Jordan Valley School in 1998. Jeremy participated in bowling plus track and field for Special Olympics. Jeremy’s mom received a promotion and when moving into the apartment complex met Boyd. The three became friends that grew into a family. Jeremy was adopted by Boyd in May of 1996. Jeremy was so excited because he was an Austin a whole seven days before his mom and dad’s wedding.

In 1992-93, Jeremy had a spinal bleed and entered the West Jordan Care Center due to being quadriplegic and care at home became very difficult. Jeremy fit right in and won everyone over with his smile and throwing kisses. Jeremy had a real zest for life. He enjoyed and loved his family, other people, camping, music, movies, travel, fishing, church, and all types of adventures. He truly loved everyone at the West Jordan Care Center and TTC. They were his second family and home.

In addition to his dad, Boyd, he was preceded in death by his brother, Timmy.

Surviving in addition to his mom, Melanie Wood Austin; are his sisters, Angela (Victor) Ogden of West Valley City, Utah and Machelle (Michael) Jay of Rupert, Idaho; nieces: December Krystel, Ashley, Whitney, Savannah, Olivia; nephews: Angelo (Joe) and Cody; great-nieces: Serenity, Brie, Journey, Juniper, Liberty and Bexley; great-nephews: Bodee, Taylor, Ryder and Wyatt.

Those who wish to remember Jeremy in a special way, may make gifts in his memory to the West Jordan Care Center Relief Fund. This fund is used to support all the residents who live at the West Jordan Care Center. The address is 3350 West 7800 South, West Jordan, Utah 84088. We, as the Austin Family want to express our love and gratitude to the West Jordan Care Center Staff for their dedication and care of Jeremy. We knew he was always in good and caring hands.
