We were blessed with Jeremy Robert Childs on May 13, 2011, and unexpectedly, on October 17, 2024, his spirit returned home. He is survived by his parents: Joshua and Bambie Childs; sisters: Keira and Chloe; grandparents: Robert and Suzanne Childs (Gunnison), D. Christopher Sano (West Jordan), Robert and Stacie Jentzsch (Midvale); honorary grandparents: David and Corie Lucero (Wyoming); great-grandparents: Janet Childs, (Gunnison), Barbara McNulty (Centerfield), Buster and Mary Sano (West Jordan), Carolyn Nell (Missouri); and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jeremy's birth was complicated, and he was the 44th person to be diagnosed with the ultra-rare Marshall-Smith Syndrome. Despite his many physical and medical challenges, those who knew Jeremy found their lives enriched by his sweet yet mischievous personality. He spread love wherever he went.
Jeremy delighted in teasing his family and nurses by pulling out his trach and wielding it like a trophy, whereas a fist waving in the air let those around him know that he was upset. Even though he was non-verbal, an arch of the eyebrow or a shake of his head would speak volumes. He would toss his toys over the edge of his bed and laugh when we put them back, only to throw them again. He loved motion - car rides, swimming, kayaking, hiking, and especially his bike, where he would laugh as he bumped into people. He was ready with a smile and had the sweetest childlike voice. His giggle was contagious. Sometimes he would talk for hours, even in the middle of the night when he should have been sleeping.
He will be missed with every moment that we breathe. We lived life because of Jeremy, not in spite of him. When he was born, we promised him that we would help him live life to the fullest that he could, and we hope we did that.
We love you, Jeremy. We will see you soon.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the amazing nurses, school staff, teachers, his medical team, and to all those who took the time to care for our Little Mister.
