West Valley City, Utah Jerry was born in Center, Colorado on June 17th, 1946 to Theodoro and Eleanor DeHerrera. He had 5 siblings: Tomas, Roberto, David, James and Louise. Jerry graduated from Center High and went on to receive a degree at Westminster College. He joined the United States Navy in 1966 and served on the Destroyer, The USS Blue, for two years. Then he went on to serve on the Nuclear Aircraft Carrier, USS Enterprise, as a Navigator. Served combat duty during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1970. Married Bertha Salazar on September 9th, 1970. He fathered his first child, a daughter, Lisa Vanessa Marie DeHerrera, born April 1st, 1971. Jerry joined the Coast Guard in 1972. Served as Company Commander. He then fathered his second child, another daughter, Nicole Tanya Rose DeHerrera, born March 18th, 1975. Honorably discharged from the Coast Guard late 1975. He is survived by one daughter, Lisa and two grandsons, Niko and Marcel. Jerry had a great sense of humor, a loving personality, viewed life positively and will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2015, 6:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road.
