Emma Joan Butters Barnes, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 91, passed away August 27, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born March 4, 1926 in Park City, Utah, third child of Vernon H. and Pauline Fausett Butters. Married James P. Barnes; he passed away August 1992 in Salt Lake City. She spent most of her childhood in Primary Children's Hospital with TB of the spine. She graduated from West High School in 1944. She served in the Primary and Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She raised a beautiful garden and was a wonderful homemaker, but her greatest joy was being with her family. Survived by children, Steven (Cinthia) Barnes and Roger Vernon (Cathy) Barnes; 9 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; brother Paul Butters, Wallsburg, UT; sister Sharon Evans, Murray, Utah. Preceded in death by brother Bobbie James Butters; and sister Donna Newcomb. Graveside services will be held, Wednesday, August 30th, 1:30 p.m., at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Road.
