On December 3rd, Joan M. Christensen departed this sphere and stepped into the embrace of her Heavenly Father.
Her earthly journey began on March 29, 1931, in Moroni, Utah. She would grow and blossom into a lovely young lady, living in Fountain Green, Utah and attending Moroni High School in the nearby town of Moroni, Utah. There, she would meet her lifelong love, Stewart Christensen. They would be sealed in the Manti Temple on May 26, 1949, and enjoy the blessing of four children.
A hard-won accomplishment for Joan was to receive her RN certificate. Subsequently, she was employed at LDS Hospital for 23 years, being assigned to the Cardiac ICU and Trauma Team sections, ending her career there as a night Supervisor.
Her talents consisted of being good at pretty much anything she attempted. Being a good cook, beautiful seamstress, accomplished in crochet, cross stitch, embroidery and dabbling in Tole painting, and more, could all be found in her repertoire.
Her most notable accomplishment would be that of living her entire life as an inspiring example to all who knew her. Her hands were never idle, always completing every task the right way, no shortcuts. Always lending her talents whenever needed, selfless in placing others needs before her own. She was happiest to be involved in a supporting role rather than being in the spotlight. She was filled with humility and gratitude, being thankful for all things, great or small. Nonna was always optimistic and encouraging, ask any grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband - Stewart Christensen; parents - Bernard and Enid Nielson; daughter - Kathy Davis; and brother - Bruce Nielson.
She leaves behind three children, Steven Christensen (Trudy), Karen Collman (Marc), Alan Christensen (Angel); three sisters, Dixie (Burk) Nielson, Fern (Mike) Cloward, Phyllis (Leland) Thompson; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Mother, we will always carry loving, fond memories of you in our hearts.

The family wishes to express gratitude to those members who devoted their time and efforts towards Nonna's care, Hospice caregivers, Alisa and Emily, Caregiver, Macy.
