Joan Grace Burgers Johnson September 3, 1930 - May 19, 2012 Joan Grace Burgers Johnson, 81, passed away suddenly May 19, 2012, from an apparent heart attack. She was born September 3, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah; the eldest daughter of nine children of Henry Gerardus Burgers and Henrietta Martina Everts. She married A. Clark Johnson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 25, 1949. Together they raised five children and one foster daughter. Besides raising her children, she unselfishly cared for her parents throughout their lives. Mom graduated from West High School early, at the age of 16. She worked as an elevator operator, model, secretary, and food demonstrator. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was her family. Mom made friends easily, loved being with people, and had a pleasant personality which was always accompanied by a smile. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many capacities. Mom loved to travel, eat out and go anywhere for a ride in a car. She especially liked decorating her home for each holiday. Joan is survived by four children Randy Clark (Margo) of Idaho Falls, ID; Sandra (Jerry) Mohr, South Ogden; Kristi (Wayne) Jager of Riverton; Teri (John) Fuller of West Valley City; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clark, of 62 years; son, Michael Scott; siblings Henry (Hank), John, Alma, Ruth, Mary, Joseph, Debra and James Burgers. Our family would like to thank the staff at Carrington Court Assisted Living for their loving care of Mom this past year. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25, 2012, 11:00 am at the West Valley 4th Ward, 3150 West Whitehall Drive (3985 South). Friends may visit Thursday evening from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday at the church prior to the service from 9:30 am-10:30 am.
