Joan Hender Atkinson Cope

Joan Cope 1932 ~ 2015 Joan Afton Hender Cope, 83, passed away after a long illness on October 7, 2015. Joan was born on March 3, 1932 in Gloucester, MA. She was married to Kendell R. Atkinson, on June 25, 1952. They were later divorced, and Joan was married to Joseph W. Cope, on February 17, 1987. Joan served in many LDS church callings. She worked for State Farm Insurance for many years, and was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her family extends their love. You will be deeply missed, Mom! Joan is survived by children, Susan Turner, Kris Atkinson and Jill Pendleton; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Roberta Mathews, Sandra Shelley and Don Hender. She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph W. Cope; two sons; parents; three sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 12, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at West Jordan 44th Ward, 1899 West 7600 South, where a viewing will be held prior to the services, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
