JoAnn Arbon

February 12, 1934 — January 1, 2024

JoAnn Marie Staker Arbon, surrounded by her family, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on January 1st, 2024.

Born February 12, 1934, in Teton Idaho, JoAnn was the oldest child of Errold (Mick) William and Rose Marie Staker. JoAnn had an ideal childhood growing up on the farm in Teton, Idaho with her extended family living nearby. Growing up, she was a good student who loved to read, played the piano and clarinet, ran track and played sports. In 1952, she moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University and eventually met the love of her life and Eternal Companion, Lloyd Earl Arbon. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 13th, 1956. They raised their six children in Taylorsville, Utah.

For many years JoAnn was a homemaker and occasionally worked as a secretary. When her children were mostly grown she worked as a secretary for the LDS Murray Cannery until she and Lloyd both retired. Together they served three full-time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Following their missions, JoAnn served as a receptionist and played the organ at the Jordan River Temple for eleven years. JoAnn dedicated her life to the service of her family, fellow men, and the Savior.

JoAnn is survived by her six children, Linda (Steve) Phillips, David (Alese) Arbon, Scott (Marla) Arbon, Brad (Michelle) Arbon, LoyAnn Arbon and Erin (Fa'a) Apelu, 27 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, sister, Susan Staker, and two brothers, Lynn Staker and Jan Staker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, her parents, sister, Sharon Newberry, grandson Chad Brittain, grandson Thayne Arbon, and great-grandson Gary Marshall.
