JoAnn Lofstrom

JoAnn Pumpin Lofstrom passed away October 30, 2023, due to dementia. She was born in Chicago to Daniel Pumpin and June Rickert Pumpin on April 23, 1949. When she was young the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated from East Phoenix High School in 1967.

After high school she met her future husband James "Jim" Lofstrom while they both worked at American Express. They married in Las Vegas at Caesar's Palace on Halloween 1970. They had two children. Lisa was born in 1974 and David in 1976.

In 1985 Jim was transferred with American Express to Salt Lake City. They lived in Sandy, Utah and JoAnn remained in the family home, until her passing, with her daughter and grandchildren. During her working years she did everything from working for Polaroid to medical coding where she met some great friends.

JoAnn loved to travel. Her favorite destinations were Maui, Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Phoenix to visit lifelong friends. She always looked forward to playing bunco with her "bunco ladies" every month.

She loved and was so proud of her two grandchildren, Jordyn Grace Lofstrom del Rio (22) and Jason Broadhead (19). Her pets were also her world. She missed her poodle Oscar, cockers Peaches, Tinkerbelle, Chloe, Sasha, LuLu, and King Charles spaniels BooBoo and Brighton immensely.

We want to give special thanks to Right at Home and Dignity Hospice for helping JoAnn be comfortable at home in her last months.

JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, sister Sally, her husband Jim (2013), and numerous aunts, uncles, and in-laws. Survived by her daughter Lisa (Barrett), son David, grandchildren Jordyn (with a great-grandbaby due in April) and Jason, sister-in-law Shelby, and nieces and nephews.
