John Christopher VanStaveren our loving father, Opa, brother, Uncle and friend passed away peacefully on December 10, 2015 surrounded by his loved ones. John was born on November 4, 1947 in Holland. He then immigrated with his parents and six siblings to Utah in 1954. He joined the Army and that is where he met the love of his life in Detroit Michigan. They settled in Salt Lake City in 1968 where they lived the rest of their lives. Those who knew John would describe him as a fiercely devoted husband, father and Opa. He loved his family with a passion that drove him to endure endless years of pain so that he could support his family. He was a skilled welder, fabricator and handyman. If something was broken he would fix it. He always had an idea for an invention of some sort. He had a goofy sense of humor and liked to make you laugh. He had a deep intent on making sure that everyone was warm and fed. He always was asking everyone that he came in contact with if they had enough food and if they were warm. He was very proud of his three sons and his grandchildren, they were his pride and joy. John is survived by his sons, Michael (Jennifer) , Bryan (Kristin), Jared; grandchildren, Jordan, Joseph, Tyson, Alex, and Sydnee; his two sisters; and two brothers. He will be missed greatly.
