Master Sergeant John D. Brownell, 88, passed peacefully in his West Jordan, Utah home on March 24, 2018. MSgt Brownell was born on April 23, 1929 in Wellsville, NY to James and Flossie Brownell. In 1946, he began his career in the United States Army Air Corps. MSgt. Brownell was a profound Flight Engineer and attained multiple recognitions during his command of the B-29, C-124, C-135, C-141, and various other military aircraft. Upon retiring in 1966, he joined the Air Force Reserve and continued to serve his country before settling with his family in the Salt Lake Valley in 1979. MSgt. Brownell was a loyal Airman, devoted husband, loving father, and compassionate grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Stella, of 63 years; his children, John (Karen) & Deborah; his granddaughters, Stephanie, Shannon, and Kami; and his 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 from 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.
