John Karl George

September 7, 1939 — October 22, 2012

John K. George 1939 ~ 2012 John Karl George, age 73, passed away October 22, 2012 after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. John was born September 7, 1939 in American Fork, UT, son of Karl O. and Jessie Butte George. He married Marilyn Crosby September 3, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church positions throughout the years. John and Marilyn served three church service missions in their later years including two eighteen month missions at the MTC and one three year mission at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. They enjoyed vacationing, traveling to Alaska, Mexico, the East Coast of the US and explored the ruins of Cancun, Mexico, the glaciers in Alaska and the Islands of Hawaii. He worked in the fiberglass and missile industry for Hercules Corp and Fibertek Inc. for over 35 years. He loved camping, hunting and fishing with his family. His fondest memories were hunting with his dad, Uncle John Gillissen and Hardrock Elliot. Survived by his wife, Marilyn of 53 years and his 3 children, Mark (Janice) George, Jenifer Richards, Laura (Rich) Dixon and 5 grandchildren. He loved having fun with his children and grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings, Geraldine (Dick) Lyons and Donna Bumgarner. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Robert Bumgarner, Evan S. Crosby and Samuel Lloyd Crosby. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 26, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the Hunter 10th Ward, 5000 W. Pavant Ave (3710 S.). Viewings will be held Thursday, October 25, 2012, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Friday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Eastlawn Memorial Park, Provo, UT.
