John Michael Williams "Cowboy" John Michael Williams, age 72, passed peacefully in his sleep January 5, 2017, due to complications of hypothermia and dementia. He was born in Salt Lake City on November 6, 1944, to Neil Campbell Williams and June Marceil Grant. He was the third of four children and their only son. He had two older sisters, Geneil and Trudy, and one younger sister, Pam. He was raised in Salt Lake City and attended Dillworth Elementary, Hillside Middle and Highland High School, graduating in its first graduating class. He was an Eagle Scout, served an LDS Mission to France and also served in the U.S. Airforce, where he was trained as a Medic and flew to Vietnam carrying supplies and soldiers. They would also bring back wounded soldiers for treatment. He worked as a bank teller for Walker Bank then selling cars at Ken Garff before opening a car lot on 21st South where he sold repossessed cars for several banks; he loved cars. He married Carolyn Wick in February of 1968 and they were married for 42 years. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple April 6, 1979. They lived in Cottonwood Heights and were foster parents to threesmall children they would have loved to adopt. They were not able to have children of their own. Early in their marriage they moved to California and Mike worked for a pool company, installing swimming pools. They had a home there and loved it but longed for Utah, horses and the outdoors. He raised Arabian horses for a number of years and trained many horses. Mike and Carolyn loved being in the mountains. He hauled hay, fire wood, wood fence posts and made log furniture. He was always loving and kind, and was liked by all who knew him. Preceded in death by his wife; parents; and two older sisters, Geneil Brown and Trudy Jarvis. Survived by sister, Pam (Elliot); brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017, 10:00 a.m., at the Sandy Lone Peak Stake Center, 11570 So.
