Our beloved daddy, son, grandson, nephew, brother uncle and friend, John Robert (J.R.) McCracken was welcomed home into the loving arms of his Heavenly Parents when he passed away suddenly on November 20, 2018. J.R. was born on May 3, 1977, to William (Bill) Olen McCracken and Sandra (Sandy) Kay Morley in Anchorage, AK.
Family has always been important to J.R., and protecting and taking care of those he loved, which may have come from being raised with three sisters. J.R. always wanted his own family and his boys, Jerry and Levi, were his pride and joy. He cherished every moment he was able to spend with them.
As a very young child, J.R. never knew a stranger and always loved bringing smiles to the face of anyone with whom he interacted. J.R. was the first to help anyone in need and always knew the right things to say. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends alike.
He is survived by his 2 young sons; maternal parents, Sandy and Michel Morley; paternal parents Bill and Janet McCracken; sisters, Rachelle (Craig) McCracken-Meredith, Rebecca (Debbie) McCracken-Pearson, Kathyrne (David) Morley-Clark, Betty McCracken-Foster, Tracy (Terrance) Morley-Marquez, Shellie (Philip) Pinkham-Russell, and Susan (Eric) Pinkham-Szasz, Crystal (Catherine) Wren, Tina (Aaron) Hrinda; brother, William O. (Carrie Ann) McCracken II; grandmother, Julia Ann Heaps-Devey; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. J.R. was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Gerald Dean Devey; paternal grandparents William Emery and Betty JoAnne McCracken; and, paternal grandmother, EuDean Morley.
J.R.'s viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7000 South Beargrass Road, in West Jordan, UT. His funeral will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. With a grave dedication following the service at West Jordan City Cemetery, 7925 South 1300 West, West Jordan Utah.
Because J.R.'s focus was being a great dad before all else in this life, the family asks in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to a memorial account the family has setup on behalf of his sons, Jerry and Levi. All contributions will be managed by their maternal grandparents, to be used toward the boy's needs in the future. Contributions can be sent to: America First Credit Union memorial account number 9106519 or by calling 800-999-3961.
