John Russell Perry

July 14, 1933 — July 12, 2016

John Russell Perry was born July 14, 1933, in Cedar City, Utah, to Leland M. and McNone Nelson Perry. Russ died July 12, 2016, at home, after a lengthy trial with Parkinson's Disease. Russ grew up in Provo, Utah. He served in the New England States LDS Mission from September 1953-1955. He remained a committed member of the LDS Church all his life. On August 16, 1956, he married Judith Elaine Browne in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In June of 1958, Russ graduated from Brigham Young University. Russ's career path started in advertising and later shifted to the printing industry in pre-press and typesetting. He started and later sold the business, Column Type. He worked for several printing companies over the years. In 1996, he began working in the Supported Employment Program of the Salt Lake School District at Columbus Community Center, where he remained until he retired in 2010. Russ and Judy are proud parents to five children. There were many challenges for a lifetime when three of the children were diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. Russ was preceded in death by his parents; only siblings, Malin, and Yolanda; and children, Lisa, Keith, Lynn, and Tyler. He is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Michael; grandchildren, Ashley, Sean, Chelsea, and Courtland; great-grandchildren, Maddie, and Noah; and nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Valley Park 2nd Ward, 5233 South 3200 West, in Taylorsville. A graveside service will follow at Taylorsville Cemetery, 4500 South Redwood Road. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home. Judy and Michael wish to thank the terrific Intermountain Hospice team that made Russ's end of life bearable. Lacie, Cheri, Tiffany, Juanita, Rebecca, Dennis, Kristen, and Dan served us so well.
