Johnie Mac Kingery
Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather returned to his Father in Heaven on August 18, 2023.
He was born September 30, 1938, in Eleanor, West Virginia, to Johnie H. Kingery and Victoria Kingery.
He is survived by his wife, Oleta Kingery; sons: Kirk (Angela), Bryan (Mandy), Steven (Kristen); daughter Brenda (Dave) Alder, and ten grandchildren; brothers: Fred Kingery, Gary Kingery, Marion Kingery, Mark Kingery; sisters: Sondra Cornea, Pam Preece.
Johnie joined The United States Air Force on January 9, 1957. While in the military he enjoyed serving in Okinawa as a jet engine mechanic and developed a love for motorcycles. He received an Honorable Discharge on May 11, 1960.
He worked for the United States Postal Service for 30 years before retiring.
Johnie was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions during his lifetime.
Johnie enjoyed many things such as; ROCKS! He was the Rockhound of all Rockhounds. He would pick up any rock and lick it to see what it was. He liked to share his knowledge of rocks with anybody that would listen.
Many aspects of wood working, such as carving, wood turning and collecting wood.
Two types of music, Jazz with lots of drums and twangy country music. The more twang the better.
One of the things that we remember most as a family is all of the many camping trips we were able to take with Dad. Dad had a true passion for camping and dutch oven cooking and eating, and ginormous campfires with family and friends.
One of Johnie's favorite obsessions was his true love of free pens. He also enjoyed twirly, spinning, shiny, bubbling, flying gizmos.
We as a family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all his many caregivers, especially Sandstone Care Center and his many hospice care givers.
