Joseph Allen Hartvigsen

June 9, 1985 — April 18, 2018

Joseph Allen Hartvigsen, 32, of West Jordan, UT, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 18th after fighting a long 10-year battle with congestive heart failure. He was born on June 9, 1985 on a warm summer evening in Salt Lake City, UT to Allen and Sylvia Hartvigsen. He grew up in West Valley City, UT and attended Taylorsville High School. Joey's biggest passion in life was his son, Aaden Hartvigsen whom he cherished more than anything. He did whatever he could to stay close to Aaden and remained a constant figure in his life. Joey is preceded in death by the love of his life, and mother of his son, Shantelle Reid, whom he is now able to hold in his arms once again. He loved country music, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and enjoyed all sports; he spent much of his youth showing others up with his impressive skills on the basketball court. He was fascinated with astronomy and spent hours watching the stars and reading about the universe. Joey was faced with many hardships throughout his life which changed him, but through it all, he had a heart of gold and loved very deeply. If you knew him, then you were lucky enough to have felt the warmth and joy he brought. Joey is survived by his son Aaden Hartvigsen; parents Allen and Sylvia Hartvigsen; step-mother Darla Hartvigsen; 3 sisters Nicole, Olivia, and Kyra Hartvigsen; step-brother Seth Reid; brother-in- law Matthew; and nephew Daxon Crabtree. We would like to invite all those who knew Joey to come celebrate his life at a gathering on Wednesday, April 25th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at 8685 S. 2200 W. West Jordan, UT 84088. The event is casual attire and will have a Pittsburgh Steelers and Luau theme, so feel free to wear your nicest sports jerseys or most colorful Hawaiian attire.
