Joseph LeRoy Bott died on August 8, 2023, at his home in Taylorsville, Utah.
This obituary was written by our father who was very particular about how he wanted to be remembered.
To my friends and family, I want to thank you all for the love and friendship shown to me and mine over the course of my life. I do not want you to mourn my leaving. Death does not scare me and holds no mystery for me. I have had a good life, rich with learning and I hope wisdom. I found an eternal companion and together we raised a family of which we are both proud and I have no regrets as to the manner in which we accomplished that. I have a knowledge that we will all meet again and that this earthly period has been but a moment in our time together. God be with you until we meet again.
I was born August 16, 1932, to LeRoy Virgo Bott and Mabel Dennis Bott in Provo, Utah. My early life was spent on my grandfather Dennis' ranch in Marysvale, Utah. We moved to Provo later and I attended all of my schooling in Provo, Franklin Elementary, Dixon Jr High, and Provo High. In 1951 I married my sweetheart, Carlene Snow, in the Manti Temple. We spent four years in the United States Air Force as an Airborne Radio Repairman and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant. After leaving the service I worked for my dad in the plastering trade, then as an Airborne Radar Repairman at Hill Air Force Base. The last 30 years of work was at Sperry Utah Engineering Lab, Sperry Utah, Sperry Rand, Univac, and Unisys. All one company in one location in Salt Lake City. I retired in 1992 as Quality Control Manager. Preceded in death by both parents, son Joseph Craig Bott ( Cindy), and my beautiful, loving wife Carlene.
Survived by my 3 children, Christopher Dee Bott (Christine), Dana Kaye Fitch (Timothy), and Kaylene Gladwin (Gleb); sister Carma Jones; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
