On December 21, 2022, Joseph Kenneth Davies passed from this existence into the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ and was reunited with his wife, son, parents, and other loved ones. He was born on April 30, 1925 in Los Angeles, California to Lora Christina Anderson and Joseph Thomas Davies with a sister June(Sutton) and two brothers Thomas and Daniel.
A lifelong devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he accomplished many great things in his life including serving in the United States Navy, serving a mission for his church in New England, being a professor at Brigham Young University, authoring several books and articles, serving in his church as a bishop and other leadership positions.
He was a devoted eternal husband to Pauline Beard Taylor and an adored father to Tania (James) and Scott (deceased). After Pauline passed away, he married Barbara Jensen, also deceased, and enjoyed her companionship for over eight years.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Richard James, two granddaughters, six great grandchildren, and two brothers. Ken's testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith was deep and unwavering, his devotion to the gospel of Jesus Christ unfailing.
His family feels immense gratitude to Legacy House of Taylorsville and its many compassionate caregivers. During his final years, Legacy provided him with a home where he enjoyed making new friends, participated in church services, and delighted in exercise classes and entertainment all while receiving support in daily life activies. The family is also grateful to Aspire Hospice Care for the excellent comprehensive and supportive end-of-life services Ken received from their entire caring and highly competent staff.
Funeral services will take place on January 4, 2023 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 6100 South Kamas Drive, Taylorsville, Utah. A viewing will be held at 10:00 am and a funeral at 11:00.
Interment will be that afternoon at the Coalville City Cemetery.
