We lost our Beloved Dad, Grandpa, Friend and Mom's eternal Sweetheart, Joseph Edward Monson Sr., on Monday, March 26, 2018. Dad was the center of our family and Mom's world. His spirit will be missed in our family home! Joe was born in Portland, Oregon to Joe and Anita Monson on April 21, 1941. He met his sweetheart Vickey, in Boise, Idaho where they were high school and church friends. They were married in the Logan Temple on September 4, 1963. Joe served in the Northern States Mission, which covered Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan. He later served a mission with Vickey in the Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh mission. Joe was always a gentleman with his sweetheart and was loving with his family. He dedicated his life to his sweetheart, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a great love for the Gospel and temple work. He served as a temple worker for 20 years in the Jordan River Temple. He had a great love for beautiful music. He sang in and directed many choirs, including being a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir from 1971 to 1972. He loved to study the scriptures and read many books about the lives of great church leaders. Joe was a people person. He made friends quickly and never forgot a face. Joe had a strong testimony of his Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. He lived his life faithfully to the endwith exactness. Dad is survived by his sweetheart, Vickey Cheney Monson.
