Joseph "Joe" Burt, died on April 8, 2018, in Herriman Utah, due to complications of the lungs. He was 49 years old. Joe was born on July 8, 1968, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to his parents Sherry and the late Michael Burt. Joe wore his heart on his sleeve and touched the lives of those he met by the love that radiated fiercely from within, particularly as an advocate for the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI), where he found joy in sharing his experience with others and also volunteering in various missions supporting the homeless. A passionate artist, Joe was happiest with a brush or pen in hand; creating bits of magic through paint and prose. Joe is survived by his partner Rachel Vaugh; his daughter Alex Christensen; his son, Josh Burt; his mother Sherry Burt; his brothers John and Nicholas Burt; his sister Kara Parnell; and grandchild Mila Christensen. He is precededin death by his father Michael Burt; and his brothers Christopher and Brandon Burt. A graveside service will be held for Joe on Wednesday, April 11th , 10:00 am, at Herriman City Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 pm, at the LDS church located at 14172 S. Emmeline Drive, Herriman, Utah, 84096. There will be an additional memorial held on Sunday, April 15th, at the Salt Lake City Mission, located at 1151 S.
