Joseph Ray Thacker, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from complications incident to age. Joseph was born August 26, 1924 in Heber City, Utah to Ray Alva and Mima Casper Thacker. He was raised in Charleston, Utah and graduated from Wasatch High School. Joe was inducted into the U.S. Army on June 4, 1943 to fight during World War II. He served in the Philippine Islands as a member of the 1613th Engineer Forestry Company until his honorable discharge on January 19, 1946. Joe married Julia Deane Winterton, March 28, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple and together they raised three children. He was an active member of the LDS Church, where he served faithfully in many callings, including a mission in the Washington D.C. Visitor's Center with his wife from 1993-1994. He was an ordained Patriarch and served for over 20 years. Joe is survived by 3 children: Julie Lynne, Brian (Linette), Larry (Joni); 6 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister Marva Edwards. Preceded in death by his wife; parents; and grandson, Tyler. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30th, 12:00 noon, at the Whitehall Ward, 3150 Whitehall Drive (3985 S). Viewings will be held Monday, Jan. 29th, 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and again at the church prior to services from 10-11:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
