Julia Rushton

Julia Ellen Rushton "Judy" passed away peacefully at home with her husband by her side, November 25, 2023.

Judy was born May 7, 1941, to John K Arnold and Mary Larue Dean, in Alterra, Utah. She was the third of four children.

She married and was sealed to James H. Rushton "Jim", December 30, 1964, in the Salt Lake City Temple. They lived in the same home and raised their 4 children in West Valley City.

Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Before her marriage, she served a mission in what was then, the West Mexico mission.

She served as both a ward and stake relief society president for many years and was the ward organist for over 33 years. Mom and Dad were ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple for 5 years. She had a strong testimony of the Savior and shared that through her words and example.

Mom filled her life with music, teaching, service, and bringing joy to others. She loved to garden, taught piano lessons, and enjoyed sewing, calligraphy and creating handmade items. For 11 years she was an Avon representative and had the opportunity to meet many new friends and travel with dad.

Her greatest joy was listening to the hymns and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Arnold, and her siblings, Kaydean, David and Rose.

She is survived by her eternal sweetheart, James Rushton, and children, Tyler (Tracy) Rushton, Tim (Sandi) Rushton, Trudy Rushton, and Trent Rushton; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Services will include a viewing, Thursday, November 30, from 6 to 8, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah.

A funeral will be held Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11 am with a viewing held prior from 10 to 10:45 am at the Cherry Blossom Ward Building 5180 W. 4700 S, West Valley City, Utah.

Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Park, West Valley City, Utah
