On September 13, 1944, Julie Hansen Grant was born to her parents Maxine Buchanan (deceased) and Ernest Dewey Hansen (deceased). For the first few years of her life, she lived in Texas as her father was a soldier training for World War II. At the end of the war, the family, including her parents and Sister Jeanne (Dan) Earl, brothers Chris and Ken Hansen, settled in Tremonton, Utah. It was a happy childhood with Julie and her siblings learning the family business of farming. This is where hard work and integrity were instilled into her character. At the age of 14, Julie lost her father to infection. Her mother remarried, marrying Oleen Garn (deceased) and they were introduced to two step-brothers, Darvel (Bonnie, deceased) and Clive (Aloha, deceased) Garn. It was a wonderful blended family that grew in the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She graduated from Bear River High School in 1962 and attended Utah State University. At the age of 21, she chose to serve a LDS mission to Stuttgart, Germany. When she returned home, she moved to Hawaii. After living there for 5 years, she moved back to Utah with a daughter Angela (Faafoi) Aiono. They would settle in Bountiful, Utah where they lived for 25 years. Julie was Vice President of Human Resources at First Security Bank for 30 years before it merged with Wells Fargo Bank. After the merger, she moved to St. George, Utah and became Bank Manager. Because she believed strongly in community involvement, she became president of the Washington City Chamber of Commerce. A promotion led her to Mesquite, Nevada where she met Richard (Dick) Grant (deceased). They were married in the St. George temple surrounded by family including Richard's children Lori (Rick) Debban and David Grant. It was a wonderful marriage until the untimely death of her beloved Dick. Looking for a change, Julie once again became a missionary serving an honorable mission to Orlando, Florida. She loved many things, but her most cherished valuables were her grandchildren Ian Aiono, Avian Aiono, Jade (Dallas) Hunt, Cole Kelsey, Riley Kelsey, and Raines Kelsey. She found great joy in her nieces and nephews and spoiled them with gifts for every holiday. She held many church callings from Primary President to gospel doctrine teacher and she loved the gospel with all of her heart. She passed away after a year long battle with dementia. She left this world peacefully on January 4, 2017.
