Karen Kaye Woltkamp Christiansen 1951 ~ 2014 Karen Kaye Woltkamp Christiansen, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at the age of 62. Born July 22, 1951 to Galen George Woltkamp and Lenore Lafeen Woltkamp. Married Tex Howard Christiansen on August 21, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple. Karen loved life and brought happiness to all those around her. She had a way of cheering you up with her great sense of humor. Karen was always willing to serve and share with anyone in need. She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed participating and supporting her family and their passion for horses. Karen was a member of the Silver Spurs Riding Club for sixteen years competing in parade & drill competitions. She loved her job and co-workers at Bold Technologies where she was employed for seventeen years. Karen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many church callings. She enjoyed many fond relationships with the girls in the Young Womens program. Although she loved horses and being in the outdoors, she loved her family most of all. She delighted in watching her children and grandchildren living their day to day simple lives. Karen welcomed and loved her sons and daughters in-law like they were her own. "Karen's Kitchen" was always open. She was an extraordinary cook and loved feeding her family. She is survived by her husband, Tex, and their six children: Camille (Bret) Deters, Troy (Jen) Christiansen, Marcie (Dan) Lewis, Shellie (Rich) Dalton, Lisa (Darrin) Nielsen, Shane (Becky) Christiansen and their sixteen grandchildren with one coming soon. Also survived by her brothers and sisters: Dorothy (Bob) May, Kathleen (Roger) Carter, Marvin (Valene) Hagen, Mikey (Chris) Woltkamp, and George Woltkamp. Preceded in death by her parents and at this time is enjoying a sweet reunion in the spirit world. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014, 12:00 noon at the Riverview Ward, 1325 West 5550 South, Taylorsville, Utah. A viewing will be held Monday, February 24, 2014, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Tuesday at the church from 11:00-11:45 a.m. Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates.
