Karine Frances Henry Murton

May 16, 1944 — May 14, 2014

Peace, Perfect Peace South Jordan, UT - Karine Frances Henry Murton, 69, our sweet mother, wife, and Nana, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2014, surrounded in love by her family. She was born in Bloemfontein, South Africa, on May 16, 1944 to Edna Ethel Morgan Henry and Francis Joseph Henry, who were stationed there in World War II. She was educated in Johannesburg by nuns at Catholic schools, and she received high marks as a student. She met the love of her life, Robert V. Murton, at his 21st birthday party on August 26, 1961, when she came as a date with her brother Peter. They were inseparable from that time after, and were married June 29, 1963. Theirs was a true love story, as they were married over 50 years, and were said to have never had unkind words between them. Their love and devotion to one another was an inspiration to their children and grandchildren, especially as Bob so lovingly cared for Karine throughout her illness of Alzheimer's disease. Karine and Bob were together 19,254 days, as Bob would remind his family, updating it each day. Karine and Bob raised three children together in South Africa, until they immigrated to the United States in 1985 and made their home in Provo, Utah, then later, South Jordan. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1980, and she and Bob were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1985. She loved serving and teaching in the Relief Society, Primary and nursery. Karine loved being a mother, wife, and grandmother. She brought so much joy to her family, and her cheerful and enthusiastic personality always lit up the room. We will always remember her for the way she would clap her hands together with excitement. She loved gardening, animals, and homemaking. When her son Brendan first started his business in 1994, she was one of his first and most enthusiastic agents and supporters. Years later, she also excelled in her profession of leasing business premises, but nothing was ever more important to her than her role as the matriarch of our family. She is survived by her husband and three children, Brendan (Anne) Murton, Eve Murton, and Kathleen (Zachary) Robinson, all of South Jordan, her brother Peter (Audrey) Henry, of South Africa, and fifteen grandchildren, who all loved her so much. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter lost at childbirth, Edna, whom she finally gets to be with. We are sure there was a joyful reunion between them all, and that heaven is a brighter place with her there. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, at 11 am at the River 6th & 9th LDS chapel, 11473 Chapel View Drive, South Jordan, with a viewing prior from 10:00-10:45 am. Interment following at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. The family would like to express their utmost appreciation to Inspiration Hospice for the wonderful, loving care they provided for Karine. A special thanks to Wendy, Merrilee, Vickie, and all of the CNAs. Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi Lord, make me an instrument of your peace Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life, Amen Place of Birth:Bloemfontein, South AfricaPlace of Death:South Jordan, UtahHobbies:Gardening, animals, teaching childrenOccupation:Wife, Mother & Grandmother
