Karl Oscar Bodine

September 19, 1927 — January 4, 2013

KARL OSCAR BODINE 1927 - 2013 Together Forever Karl Oscar Bodine passed away suddenly on January 4, 2013 at the age of 85, at his home. Karl was born September 19, 1927 to Oscar Bodine and Lue Armilda Harris Bodine in Pima, Arizona. He was the youngest of 7 children. Karl married his sweetheart, Rose Marie Pazell, September 17, 1948 in Salt Lake City and they were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Karl had an entrepreneurial spirit and owned several successful businesses throughout his lifetime with his partner and bother-in-law, Bill Pino. But his greatest, most lasting achievement was the legacy he left his family. He was always there to help anyone in need. All a person had to do is mention a need and Karl was right there the next day to get started on the project. He worked on every one of his children s and grandchildren s houses, building basements, remodeling, or doing whatever was necessary. If anyone had a problem with their car, they called Dad or Grandpa and he would fix it up. He could fix just about everything and always had a way to rig something to get the job done. Karl and Rose were generous, opening their hearts and home to many. He would give a person the shirt off his back if they needed it. Karl served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints throughout the years including the Young Men s Program, High Council, and Bishop of the student ward at Salt Lake Community College. He helped develop the Timberlane Camp property for the Taylorsville Stakes. He donated countless hours building church ward buildings before he became an active member of the Church. Karl and Rose served a mission for their Church in the member locator department. They served in the Temple in a sealing group for many years. Karl loved sports and played tennis until he could no longer play. Later in life he was an avid genealogist. He dearly missed his sweetheart, Rose, who preceded him in death 11 months earlier and we know their reunion will be sweet. He will be missed by all who knew him and were served by his generosity and loving spirit. He is especially missed by his loving children: Larry Bodine (Gaylene), Karen Wardle (Steve), and Tamara Bodine who provided especially loving care over the past months in Mom s absence; and his grandchildren, Kimberly, Preston, Bret, Lindsay, Kelcie, Brad, and Erin and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sweetheart, Rose; his parents, siblings, and granddaughter, Shayanne. A viewing will be held in his honor on Monday, January 7th, from 6-8 p.m. at the McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 8th at the Little Cottonwood 5th Ward at 11 a.m. at 6350 So. Rodeo Lane (1550 East) with a viewing held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. Hobbies:Sports, genealogyOccupation:Owner/Manager
