Kathryn VanLeeuwen Martin peacefully passed away on September 19, 2022, in West Jordan, Utah surrounded by family and loved ones. She is now reunited with her mother, father, and beloved son and guardian angel, Nicolas, in heaven.
Born on September 27, 1950 in Salt Lake City to Richard and Leah VanLeeuwen, Kathy grew up in the Salt Lake City area along with her three sisters, Jane, Susan, and Barbara. She had a love for traveling and had visited multiple locations in Europe, New York, and Washington D.C. at a younger age.
Kathy raised her two sons, Jonathan and Nicolas, in West Jordan, Utah, by teaching them the values of respect and responsibility. She was proud of her sons and would always give them the love and the support they needed to overcome adversity and accomplish their goals.
Kathy loved spending time with her husband, William Martin, whether it be camping outdoors, at the racetrack, or at home watching the Utah Jazz on TV with her dog, Stella, on her lap.
She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. The phone calls, the pictures, and the sleepovers would always warm her heart, put a twinkle in her eye, a smile on her face. There was never a moment that she would turn down an opportunity to spend time with them.
For all the love that Kathy had for her friends and family, there will be a celebration of life on Saturday, October 15th, at West Jordan Park from 1:00 - 3:00 pm for friends and family to honor the memory of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend that we all had with Kathy. For those that are not able to attend, sharing some of your favorite stories while enjoying a blue margarita at Chili's will be just what she would have wanted.
