Kathryn Newmeyer

May 1, 1936 — February 27, 2024

Kathryn (Kathy) Myrna Newmeyer died in Taylorsville, Utah on February 27, 2024, at the age of 87.

Kathy was born on May 1, 1936, in Orem, Utah. She grew up on a farm Orem and graduated from high school in Orem. Kathy graduated from LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She retired from Abbott Critical Care Systems, also known as Abbott Laboratories, in 1999, after 20 years of employment.

Kathy was a devoted mother who always put her family first. She was a single mother for half her children's lives and ensured they had everything they needed, especially during Christmas time. Kathy was very independent, even insisting on paying for herself when going to restaurants for special occasions, like her birthday. Of course, her children would pay for her.

Kathy loved country music and animals. She loved spending time with loved ones and was always on the go.

Kathy is survived by her children, Keith Newmeyer (Raye Newmeyer) and Carolyn Goran (Khaleel Goran), and her beloved grandchildren Dylan and Deryn Goran. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Della and Daniel Rieske, her brother Ronald Rieske (Alice Rieske), her ex-husband, Jeddy Newmeyer (Richard Johnson), and her niece Shauna Rieske.

Kathy is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

A graveside service will be held at Elysian Burial Gardens on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The family is grateful to McDougal Funeral Home in Taylorsville, Utah for assisting with the funeral arrangements. Kathy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she finally rest in peace. Mom, we love you!
