Kathy was born in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Stewart E. and Joan N. Christensen. As the oldest of four children, she spent her early years in Fountain Green and had a fondness for Sanpete County all her life. Later her family moved to the Salt Lake Valley where she spent the remainder of her childhood and lived at the time of her sudden passing. She raised her children in Utah County, but also spent time as a young mother in Michigan and Colorado. In 1968, Kathy graduated from Cyprus High School, and in 1970 earned an Associate in Arts degree from Snow College. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from Utah State University in 1973 and worked for several years with hearing impaired children. In 1993, she completed the Nuclear Medicine Technologist program at the University of Utah, School of Medicine and used this certification in her work at Primary Children's Hospital. Kathy was outgoing and treasured her many relationshipsfriends and family alike. She adored her grandchildren and cherished time spent with them. She always looked forward to holiday traditions and celebrations and Christmas was her favorite. A lover of the arts, Kathy especially enjoyed literature and music. She loved attending concerts and other cultural events. Her own talents were frequently used in a variety of creative projects including crafts, drawing, writing and music. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the most important person in her life was her Savior. She exemplified the qualities of gratitude, service, charity and perseverance. She also often put others' needs above her own and faced life's challenges with determination and hope. Kathy will be greatly missed by her mother; siblings Steven (Trudy), Karen (Marc) and Alan (Angel); children Kristen (Jeff), Jami (John), April, David (Tina); grandchildren Madison, Carter, Masey, Corbin, Alexis; and many extended family members and friends. She was happily reunited with her father as well as many grandparents and great-grandparents whom she held dear. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville. Viewing will be held prior to the services from 9-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Moroni City Cemetery, Duck Springs Road, Utah.
