Kay Hamelwright Powell

Kay was born January 7, 1932 to Helen Thorne Hamelwright and Movell Clifford Hamelwright, and grew up alongside her sister Zan, in Salt Lake City, UT.

Kay married her sweetheart, Pennell Powell, in the Salt Lake Temple on August 15, 1949. Their lives were blessed with 8 children, and revolved around the love and care of their large family, faith in Jesus Christ, and dedication to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survived by her children, Teresa, Mike, Judy (Jerry), Jeff (Wendy), Karine (Robert), Kerry (Karen), and her baby boy, Karl; numerous grandchildren; and her sister, Zan.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son, Burns; granddaughters, April and Heather; and her great grandson, Collin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 5th, 10:00 a.m., at the Jordan North 4th Ward, 4270 Falcon Street (4145 West). Viewings will be held Friday, January 4th, 6-8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9-9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. Arrangements under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
