Keith Joseph Meldrum

April 19, 1929 — November 4, 2016

Keith Joseph Meldrum, 87, our loving husband, father and grandfather passed peacefully away on November 4, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 19, 1929 in Burley, Idaho to Joseph Roy and Irene Coffman Meldrum. Keith grew up on a farm during the depression era where he learned the value of work. He served in the LDS North Central States Mission where he spent nine months providing service at the Mayo Clinic, followed by service in the U.S. Army in Korea. Following his return, Keith attended Utah State University. He married his sweetheart and eternal companion, Joyce Hirschi on September 4, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. Keith worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 31 years which allowed him to be out of doors that he loved so much. He spent countless hours in his yard working the soil making it a beautiful place. Keith was a faithful and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a clerk to almost every Bishop of the ward. He was a faithful home teacher his entire life and was able to touch the hearts of his young companions. Keith had a great love for this country and honored and respected the U.S. Flag. Together with his wife, did volunteer work for the Tiny Tim's Foundation. Keith was a simple, honest, kind gentle man who touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce, Taylorsville, UT; daughters Debra Joyce (Steve), West Valley, UT, Annette, Denise, Taylorsville, UT, and beloved granddaughters, Stephanie, Elizabeth, and Katherine Schott. Also survived by sister, Carol Stocking. Preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters: Sonoma Broadbent, Barbara Jean Heninger, Wanda Meldrum. A heartfelt thanks to his caring nurses at Jordan Valley Medical Center and Valeo Hospice who so lovingly took care of our husband, father and grandfather. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Taylorsville 10th Ward chapel, 4950 South 1950 West. A viewing will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2016 from 6-8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m at the church prior to the funeral service.
