Ken Lobach, loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend, died peacefully surrounded by his devoted wife Linda Erickson Lobach, and loving family on January 15, 2019.
He was born in Grand Junction, Colorado in the spring of 1942 to Armida and Robert Lobach,. Ken was the eldest of three children. He had two younger sisters, Sheryl (Byron) Johnson and Pat (Terry) Morrison.
Every summer he would go with his Grandpa McCarroll to the sheep camps.
After graduating from Jordan High School, Ken joined the army and proudly served in Korea in the 7th Cavalry.
Ken was a talented artist, working with leather, metal and wood and was also a professional and talented musician. He played in popular Utah bands throughout the 60's and 70's, such as Cap’n D and the Pirates and never stopped playing and performing for those close to him.
Ken enjoyed playing music and being close to his family and friends. Like so many songs, “Free Bird” was often requested and Ken was always ready to pay tribute when asked. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always knew that “papa” would save them if they got in trouble.
Ken is survived by his 4 children, John Lobach and Dee, Teresa and Sam Torres, Erik Erickson and Ron and Kaylynn Lobach; 4 grandchildren, Misty Dassay (Josh), Ryan, Allie, and Wyatt Lobach; and 2 great-grandchildren, Alice and Rowan Dassay.
In Ken’s honor, a jam session will be held in April to celebrate his life. For many of us, we were inspired by his performance of “Wish You Were Here”. As we face upcoming days without him, the meaning of that song rings especially true.
