Kent Palmer

Kent B Palmer, age 76, passed away peacefully March 7, 2023.

Kent was born December 5, 1946 to James Kenneth Palmer and Berniece Batt Palmer. He was raised in Grantsville Utah with his siblings Larell, Marlin, Lorie, and Kenna. Kent met and married JoAnn Durfee in 1974 and together with her two sons raised a family with an additional four children in West Valley City, Utah.

Kent always enjoyed music, something he inherited from his mother. As a child he learned to play the piano, an activity he would enjoy his entire life.

He was an active member of the Alliance House for over 25 years where he made many friends and was able to serve in many capacities. One of Kent's greatest desires was to advocate for the mentally ill population of Utah and to help fight the stigma surrounding mental illness. He devoted much of his time and energy for this cause.

Despite his struggles, Kent considered himself to have been very blessed from the time he was very young until his passing. He believed that nothing in his life was a coincidence and that all things happen for a reason.

Kent is preceded in death by his loving parents and two younger brothers Curtis and Gaylen. He is survived by his six children Keith (Jennie), Kyle (Renee), James (Kelly), Kathy (Jason), David, Amy (Dan), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held Sunday March 19th from 12:00-2:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home (4330 South Redwood Road, Taylorsville UT 84123) with a short graveside service at 3:30pm at the Grantsville City Cemetery, Grantsville UT.
