Kirsten Shirley Clark Jenkins

March 25, 1946 — January 25, 2018

Kirsten Shirley Clark Jenkins, 71, passed from this life to the next on January 25, 2018 due to complications from strokes following heart surgery. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 25, 1946 in Delta, Utah, the eldest child of Shirley Barney and Larry Noel Clark. She had one younger brother whom she adored. She spent her first few idyllic years in McCornick, Utah as well as in Delta when her family moved into town. Here she enjoyed close association with many special relatives and was raised knowing that family is everything. She was her grandma's Suzie Q and her parent's Kiry. At the beginning of high school her family moved north, first to Provo, then Granger where she graduated from Granger High School in 1964. It was during this time that she met her sweetheart, Raymond Bawden Jenkins. It was love at first sight for both of them. They married on September 14, 1964 in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Taylorsville, followed by Granger and Bluffdale and then settled in South Jordan for the past 40 years. They began their family quickly after getting married and before long had 6 children. She believed firmly in the value of a mother in the home. Being the best wife and mom she could be was her highest priority and in turn, she lived for her kids as well as unofficially adopting many others throughout the years. She loved her family fiercely, generously and without condition. She was a 4'11 firecracker who knew how to get a job done, including making sure that all 5 of her sons earned their Eagle Scout award. She had a talent for making everyone feel special and loved. She had a deep and abiding testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in several callings including as a pianist and organist, in scouting, in many primary presidencies and two separate times as Relief Society President. She served alongside her husband as a hosting missionary at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Most recently she served as a Visiting Teaching Supervisor and was a true example of lifting wherever you serve. She spent many days at the family cabin in Island Park with her family. She enjoyed traveling but only if her sweetheart came along. She liked birthday picnics at the sand dunes, going to lunch with family and friends and reading a good book. She was an incredibly hard worker but also was good at relaxing and especially enjoying time spent with family. She taught all of us to be better people through her example of dedication, compassion and love. She will be missed more than words can say. The family wishes to thank Dr. Stringham and the excellent nursing staff at Salt Lake Regional ICU for the tender care they took of Kirsten during her last weeks. We also wish to offer our father heartfelt thanks for the loving care he took of Mom for the last several years. Kirsten is preceded in death by her parents; and her great-grandson Derek "Skippy" Lords. She is survived by her eternal companion, Raymond B. Jenkins; her children, Raymond C. (GaeLynn), Robert, Roger, Russell (Mellissa), Ronald, and Richelle (Joshua) Jensen; her brother Larry McTaine (Colleen) Clark; 17 grandchildren; and 3 1/2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 2, 11:00 am, at the Meadows Chapel 9455 S. 4800 W. Friends and family may call at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Rd. on Thursday Feb. 1st from 6-8 pm and again on Friday prior to services at the church from 10-10:45 am. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
