KonaDee Warrick Thomas joyfully stepped through the veil of eternity on March 10, 2024, to be welcomed by her eternal companion, Donald Thomas: their son Kevin; her parents Devon William and Gwen Lowe Warrick; and her youngest sister, Sally Warrick Holbrook.
KonaDee was born on Jan 15, 1940, in her grandparents' bedroom in Battle Creek, Idaho, just four miles north of Preston. She was the first of six children. She grew up in Idaho and Bountiful, UT, and was known for her love of dancing, babysitting, and sewing. She served faithfully in the British North Mission from 1961 to 1963, where she testified of the Savior, cooked for the missionaries, and "literally fell for the elders," which she later discovered was the beginning of a diagnosis for Multiple Sclerosis.
She met Donald Thomas (who was an answer to her prayers) at the Thursday night dances at the Terrace Ballroom in Salt Lake City. Their forever companionship was sealed on Sept 16, 1966, in the Salt Lake Temple. KonaDee and Don were blessed with five children and lived in Pleasant Grove, Bountiful, and West Jordan, Utah.
KonaDee loved to serve her Heavenly Father and did so in many ways, beginning by teaching primary at age 12, then serving as the ward dance director at 16. In her later years, she served 16 years in the Dixie Valley neighborhood as the compassionate service director and then another 16 as the Gospel Doctrine teacher in the Heritage Branch. She sewed too many quilts, clothes and wedding dresses to count for people and babysat almost all of the neighborhood children at one time or another--All of this while being confined to a wheelchair. She was famous for her whole wheat rolls that were said to send an overdue mom into labor. She was not a stranger to trying times, but her positive, happy outlook, as well as her testimony and faith in the Savior allowed her to rise above her trials and setbacks.
She is survived by four of her children; Tami (Jay) Schmidt, Kory (Jennifer), Kraig, Traci (Dan) Roberts. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Eryn, Alison, Trevor, Staci, Shalene, Emily, Rosaleah, Braxton, Jacie, Adrienne, Katherine, Lance, Krystal and Vanessa and 9 great-grandchildren: Carter, Roland, Charlotte, Graham, Koda, Aleiah, Harlow, Ryker and Harley. She loved her sisters Merikay (Rick) Haskins, LuAnne (Bill) Dixon and her brothers Curtis (Shawna), Neil (Lorene) and brother-in-law Gary Holbrook, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by Yvonne (Steve) Ware (Danielle & Ethan) and Chris & Becki Jenkins (Shalese, Madilynn, Alysa, Emma, Zakery & Michael), whom she was honored to call her family as well.
Many thanks to the care/nursing staff at Heritage Place, Avalon, Sandstone and Bristol Hospice for their love and care for KonaDee over the last 25 years. We as a family are truly grateful for your service and attention to our sweet mom.
