Kristen Lawrence Pedersen, loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 26, 2018 in South Jordan, Utah. Born July 26, 1925, to Kristen Swensen Pedersen and Nevada Butterfield in Riverton, Utah. He married Mary Isabella Withers, January 21, 1949, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a veteran of World War II having landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day. He was later wounded and received a Purple Heart for his service. He worked on the family farm in Riverton, at the Lark Mine, Tooele Army Depot and Hill Air Force Base where he retired in 1983. Unable to stay idle he worked for the Utah State Tax Commission and at the Salt Palace as an usher for many events, his favorite being Ice Hockey. "Lawrence" as he was known to most people loved his family and loved to spend time with them. He took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lawrence and Mary were blessed with 4 children, Karen(deceased), Mary Ann(deceased) (Greg Clark), Kristine (Robert Lemon) and Kelly Kris (Pamela Nowak) Pedersen. They have 8 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 1, 2018, 12:00 pm at the Kearns Utah Stake Building, 4260 West 5215 South, Kearns, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the services starting at 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 am. Interment at Bluffdale City Cemetery, 14229 South Redwood Road, Bluffdale, Utah. The family wishes to thank the staff of Legacy House in South Jordan, Utah for their love and kindness to Dad for these past months.
