Lana Diane Petersen, 69, passed away at home in Taylorsville, Utah, Sunday, 15 May 2016. Lana was born on 16 November 1946 in Burley, Idaho. John and Lana were married on 26 October 1963 in Deweyville, Utah. John and Lana actually met when they were much younger when Lana lived in Bear River, and John was working the farm in Promontory. John and Jerry (Lana's older brother) were good friends, and John often came over to hang out. One day, Lana walked out with one of the babies (one of her siblings), and John took notice. They dated, and from there were married in Las Vegas, Nevada, by an LDS bishop at an aunt's house on 26 October 1963. John and Lana have been the most adorable couple all their married lives and both adore each other. Their reuniting last week would have been touching. During the 60s, Lana started working as a waitress at Brattens Seafood Grotto. She continued working there until it closed in the early 90s. Mom made friends with many of her customers and co-workers. She worked nights while the kids were young so she could be there to get the children off to school and be there when they got home. As they got older, she switched to days and liked it a lot better. Growing up, the children always looked forward to her bringing home the famous clam chowder and pumpernickel bread. Lana looked forward to playing bridge with her friends from work, and it became a regular event, each taking turns hosting. Lana always made sure her family had a home-cooked meal every day. She would make peanut butter and "jammers" after school with her fresh homemade peach jam. She loved to garden and take care of the house and always kept the place immaculate, even if company wasn't coming over. Lana has been the anchor and peacemaker in her family, her parents' family, and wherever she went, she was a force for good and stability. Lana devoted her life to her husband and three boys, and their families, to create a stable and loving home. Whether you were family or friend, Lana always made sure you were welcomed and included. To Mom, home was heaven and where she wanted to be. Our mom, wife, grandma, and friend, will be dearly missed during this temporary separation from us. Mom, take care until we can meet again. Lana is survived by her three children, Leslie John, Randall Lee, and Bryan James; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Elaine June Stanford, Jerry Lee Rasmussen, Nelda Karen Colwell, Janet Marie Cline, David Weldon Rasmussen, Mary Faye Tinker, Connie May, Debra Ann Furgason, Michael Ray Rasmussen, Lynn Kay Boxx, Lorin Jay Rasmussen, and Dee Vaun Rasmussen. She is preceded in death by her brother, Arvel Ralph Rasmussen; her father, Weldon Arvel Rasmussen (born in 1913 in Bear River, Box Elder, Utah, and passed away in 1980; and her mother, Estella June O'Neil, (born in 1924 in Mantua, Box Elder, Utah, and passed away in 1999).
