Laree Krohn, our generous and strong mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Mother's Day, May 8th, surrounded by her family. She was born Emma Laree Beckstead on September 7, 1926 to Emma and Henry Beckstead. Her young years were spent in Granite, Utah on her family's homestead and many of her most precious memories were made there working in the garden and berries and sleeping under the grape vines with her brothers and sisters. Laree married Emer Manassas Gallagher in 1946 who left this world too soon just thirteen years after they were married. She married Harold Krohn in 1965, later divorced in 1978. She loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and had an unwavering testimony. She served faithfully in many capacities in her Kearns 14th Ward and also as a worker at the Jordan River Temple. She had a strong connection to her brothers and sisters which gave her strength throughout her life. She was deeply dedicated to her family. She quit her job to care for her mother and raised grandchildren to allow them a better life than was in their future. Laree enjoyed quilting, gardening and was an avid reader which kept her mind sharp up until her last days. She made amazing homemade bread, jam, and ice cream and loved nurturing all of us with these sweet and other savory delights. We will always remember her incredible resilience despite the family losses she endured. Her beautiful and sacrificing spirit lives on in our hearts. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Gallagher, Nancy Gallagher, Michelle Krohn and Skylar Brady; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Emer Gallagher; siblings she loved dearly, Beth Bowen, Lawana Nielsen, Ramona Larsen, Reva Thomas, Marvin and Ravell Beckstead; her beloved daughter and son, Geri Gallagher and Randall Gallagher.
