Larry Almond

February 1, 1938 — September 20, 2024

Larry Moroni Almond, 86, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed away on September 20, 2024. Born on February 1, 1938, in Downey, Idaho, to Burt and Lottie Almond. Larry lived a life rich in love, service, and community.

Larry married Bertie Lisonbee on November 7, 1958, and together they welcomed four children: Steve, Doug, Tracy, and Krista. In 2010, he found love again when he married Kathy Vise, embracing her wonderful and supportive family.

A dedicated businessman, Larry opened Larry's Car Care in 1975 in West Valley City, Utah serving the community until 2021. Known for his honesty, hard work, and reliability, he was not only a skilled mechanic but also a beloved storyteller. His customers cherished their conversations with him and his genuine concern for their well-being.

Larry had a deep passion for music and singing. His rich bass voice brought joy to many at weddings, retirement homes, and even spontaneous serenades at restaurants. In his retirement home, he was a familiar figure, singing in the cafeteria and down the halls, brightening the days of friends and staff alike.

Golf was another passion of Larry's. He loved spending time on the golf course, sharing the game with friends, sons, and grandsons.

A man of service, Larry found fulfillment in lifting the burdens of others, often doing so anonymously without seeking recognition. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities, and particularly enjoyed supporting missionaries in their service.

Larry is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Steve Almond, Doug Almond (Chris), Tracy Almond, and Krista Johnson (Jim); his stepchildren, Debbie (Darwin) Moore, Connie (Greg) Cantrell, Beckie Vance, and Angie Vise; as well as 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Louise Seamons, Marge Small (Jack), and Ann Crapo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Alan, Dean, Grant, Lyle, and Jimmy.

Larry will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched, especially his family.
