Larry Dale Florence peacefully slipped into the spirit world on January 24, 2025 of natural causes at his home in West Valley, Utah. He was 86 years old.
Larry was born to Wilmer Henry Florence and Mabel May Wilkinson and was the eighth of fifteen children.
Larry is survived by his wife, Shirley Joy Miller, whom he met in high school. They married in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have three children; Dale Florence, Denise Beauregard and Renee Wasserbaech, 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, with two more expected soon.
Larry served in United States Air Force Reserve. He also served as secretary in the Utah Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Larry built a successful business and served faithfully in many church callings. When called to serve as a bishop, he sacrificed time, talents, and a very fine beard.
Larry will be remembered for his legacy of making friends most anywhere. He introduced neighbors, friends, and family members to the deserts and canyons of Southern Utah. As a teen he rafted the Colorado River through Glen Canyon. After the river was dammed, he navigated a houseboat on Lake Powell. Excursions over the years included the annual spring fishing trip with his brothers. He mentored his children and grandchildren amid red sandstone, bright sunshine, sparkling water, with love and kindness for each of them.
