Larry Robbins Leishman 1944 ~ 2012 Larry Robbins Leishman, 67, of Taylorsville, Utah passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2012 after a 2-year battle with brain cancer. He was born on July 22, 1944 in Brigham City, Utah to parents Marjorie Robbins Leishman and Merlin Ricks Leishman. Larry served a 2-year LDS mission in Germany and married his eternal sweetheart Carol Frederickson on March 7, 1969 in the Salt Lake Temple. He earned a Master s degree from Brigham Young University and taught for the LDS Church CES program for 36 years. Larry served humbly but enthusiastically in the scouting program for over 20 years. He also served as an LDS bishop, youth leader, stake clerk, and temple worker. But always he was a teacher, with a stunning command of the scriptures and an ever faithful adherence to gospel principles. He served our country in the Army Reserves and the National Guard for 31 years, retiring with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5. He was an avid hiker and loved to exercise. Larry was preceded in death by his son Johnny and his mother Marjorie. He is survived by his wife Carol, and children Cindy (Michael) Gill, Joseph (Lorena), Chellie (Will) Phillips, Thomas (Megan), Tricia, Julie, Marie (Jason) Lefler, and Emily; also 21 grandchildren, father Merlin Leishman, sister Marilin (Lynn) Cox, and brother Kim (Becky). Funeral services will be held at the Taylorsville Central Stake Building, 4950 S. 1950 W. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends may gather at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road, Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 6-8:00 p.m. and prior to the service at the church Monday from 10:30-11:30 am. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
