Laura Christensen Miles April 3, 1923 to September 23, 2011 Our dear, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Laura Christensen Miles, returned home to her heavenly father on September 23, 2011. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Mom was a sweet, kind and loving person - an inspiration to all that knew her. Mom was born April 3, 1923 in Grace, ID to Ferdinand Christian Christensen and Elsie Marie Andersen, one of seven children. Mom married Abner Dean Bud Miles in Preston, ID April 9. 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on August 16, 1965. They had five children and were married 60 years. Her family was her greatest joy. As a mother and grandmother she was exemplary. Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many positions including Temple Worker in the Jordan River Temple, Stake Relief Society President, Ward Relief Society President, Chorister, Teacher and many others. She is survived by four of her five children. Jared Dean Miles (Lindy) of Riverton, UT, Diane Miles Crockett (Leon) of West Jordan, UT, Rodney C. Miles (Julie) of Cottonwood Heights, UT, and Kevin C. Miles (Sivilay) of Salt Lake City, UT., nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her daughter LaNette, her loving husband Bud, parents, siblings Verda, Ethel, Otto, Blanche, Kenneth, and Wayne. Mom loved music and it was a major part of her life. She sang in high school on the radio and continued to enjoy singing with her Ward Choir, with the Schubert Singers, Sweet Adelines and many other groups. Mom enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, painting, reading, and crafts of all kinds. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the West Jordan 28th Ward, 2666 West 7000 South at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, from 6 - 8 p.m. and Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Grace City Cemetery, Grace, ID. Mom and her family want to thank all of her friends and neighbors in her ward for all they have done for her all these years. We also want to thank the staff at The Coventry Assisted Living and the staff of Envision Home Health and Hospice for all of their loving care and service.
