Laurel S. Roper

October 15, 1937 — January 12, 2013

Laurel Sorenson Roper, beloved Wife and Mother, Grandmother and friend to all, quietly and peacefully passed away January 12, 2013. She was born October 15, 1937 in Logan, Utah to Glen and Ada Sorenson. After moving around as a young child with her family, she settled in Granger, Utah where she met and fell in love with her eternal companion Warren K. Roper. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 26, 1960. They were blessed with 3 wonderful children, Mark (Margo), Michelle (David) Hughes and Melanie (Jonathan) Davenport. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as Relief Society President, Stake and Ward Young Women s President, and numerous other callings. She lived an exemplary life of service. She was always giving her time to everyone in need. She cherished the relationship with her sisters Marcia, LuAnn and Glenna. Her friendship was extended to everyone, even strangers in the grocery store. Her voice still rings in our heads with her angelic songs; she has an amazing vocal talent that touched many hearts. She kept busy sewing and quilting and many other craft projects which she enjoyed giving to others. She worked several years at Moss Elementary School, as a Resource Aide, and loved each child dearly. We have many fond memories of spending time together camping. She loved being in the outdoors with Warren and together they led their family in many adventures like boating, camping, riding dirt bikes and ATV s. Warren and Laurel spent many winters in Arizona with friends 4-wheeling, playing games and shopping. Her grandchildren and family were the sparkle in her eyes. She has 7 grandchildren: Hollie and Garett, Alicia and Andrew, Derek, Cameron, Garret, Hayden, Jack; and 3 great-grandchildren: Miley, Bridger, Sydney. Laurel is enjoying a sweet reunion in heaven with her great-grandson Bridger; sister LuAnn and her parents. She will be greatly missed. The funeral will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at the Taylorsville 24th Ward, 2976 W. 4270 S.
